Men's Fellowship
From homemade spaghetti and brunswick stew to building wheelchair ramps, the men's fellowship is dedicated to creating space for ministry and hospitality and fellowship. We would love for you to visit us at our monthly meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. Enjoy a homemade meal and fellowship with our GANG. Fake mustaches are optional.
Women's Guild
At Second Church it is not uncommon to walk into the fellowship hall and find it covered with plastic bags or perhaps flour. Don't worry. It's just our women's guild busy turning trash into mats for the homeless or getting ready to fix another batch of their famous pot pies. With 3 Circles that meet monthly at different times for fellowship and projects, we're sure that you'll find one that suits your schedule. .
Children's Ministry
Rev. Jim has said more than once that his favorite part of the job is the children's sermon on Sunday morning. And no wonder with the amazing group of kids we have. On Sunday mornings we have Sunday school, time with Jim during worship AND there's a kid's corner right in the sanctuary with quiet activities so your child can stay and participate in worship. On Wednesdays John and Laura work with the children's choir. Then, throughout the year, our kids do everything from raise money to buy llamas for the Heiffer Project to VBS to accompanying Rev. Jim on shopping trips for supplies for local schools or the children's hospital.
Community Outreach
Our church has many different opportunies to help out those that are less fortunate though many different local projects including"Touching Davidson County with Love", delivering Meals on Wheels, work camps throughout the state, and building wheelchair ramps.
Communities in School
During Vacation Bible School, our children and adults brought in schools supplies to donate to the Lexington City and Davidson County School systems. They were donated to the Communities in Schools program so that those children less fortunate will have school supplies for the 2018-2019 school year. In addition, Rev. Jim gave each one of our kids $10 during a Children's Message one Sunday and took them shopping for school supplies and/or food for donations. We ended up with SO MUCH to donate that we MUST do this again! They really enjoyed this project.
